Using Corona DR with 3ds Max25 and Corona 12.1

Hi.
We have a very small render farm of 4 machines currently and have just taken the step to using Pulze Render Manager. I have a couple of questions if I can, as a newbie to all of this…

We run 3ds Max 2025 with Corona 12.1

  1. What is the correct method of sending a distributed render from the render manager screen? Do I leave it on the default setting, ‘RENDER MODE: Image’ and leave the image method unticked? Or should we choose ‘IMAGE METHOD: Single’?

I have the render settings in Max set to distributed rendering. Should I be searching for the PC’s on the network in the render settings at this stage, or will Pulze find them anyway?

  1. Does DR Server need to be running on each render node or will Pulze start this up when a render is sent? If it needs to be running prior to, am I best adding Corona DR server to the windows startup?

  2. Using distributed rendering, how do I assign a machine to be the host for the render job. The test renders I have sent, with varying degrees of success (hence all the questions!) have always been assigned to the same machine, as it happens it is the poorest of all in terms of perfomance. Is there a way to choose a machine on the network to host? I thought I found this under the admin tab current, primary and secondary distributor devices but this hasn’t altered anything.

Many thanks in advance, apologies if this has already been covered somewhere. If it has, could you please point me in the right direction. Pulze looks to be a great fit for us, just need to iron out a few minor issues to give us full confidence in the process.
