Automatic Version increment?

Hi,

I’ve setup the “Render Output - Common” module as follows:

It works well, except two things:

_ it doesn’t care if files already exist or not. If they exist they will silently be overwritten
_ everytime I want to do a new render, I must manually increment the version number.

  • It’d be nice if a warning would be triggered if files already exist
  • Is there a way to increment automatically the version number instead of doing it manually?
Say folder “002” already exists, then folder “003” is created etc …

Thanks!

Hi,

- it doesn’t care if files already exist or not. If they exist they will silently be overwritten
That’s very strange, in the previous versions it didn’t do that, I just tested this with the latest beta, and you are right, normally Max asks to overwrite, BUT in this case it ONLY asks to overwrite the channels and the raw outputs, NOT the common, so there must be something ignoring that. That explains the issue I had last time and I didn’t know if I made a mistake or not. So it’s definitely a bug. This ofcourse only when you press the render button in Pulze Scene Manager. If you click the render button of 3dsMax itself it asks to overwrite, but then you don’t have the batch functionality of RM.

_ everytime I want to do a new render, I must manually increment the version number.
Yeah would be nice to have it incrementely change by itself but as for now you can use the date as a way of versioning unless your doing multiple versions in a day ofcourse, a nice addition would be a time parameter to overcome that.

Hey @DGTLTWNS , thanks for your input,

_ Thanks for confirming the silent overwriting thing is a bug. Is there anything else I need to do? How to report it so that it’s being fixed asap?

_ Agree 100% with you, this feature would be really nice to have. And, as you said, I often do multiple renders in a day so the date function doesn’t help me here. In the meantime I will keep on manually incrementing the name of the folder.

Thanks again for your help,

Hi @Tom and @DGTLTWNS Could one of you please reach out to support@pulze.io and we will register the issue and look into it! Thanks!
